Information For Addicts

Drug and alcohol dependency destroys lives and leaves people feeling helpless. Nearly 44,000 people will die this year from drug overdoses, a rate that has nearly double since 1999.  That number has eclipsed most other causes of death, including car accidents. Yet addiction treatment is either unavailable or unaffordable for many people with insurance. Drug rehab without insurance is nearly impossible to obtain. That is where we here, at No Insurance Drug Rehab would like to help.

The first option available to addicts without insurance is paying cash. Unfortunately the average cost of 28 day in-patient treatment is the same price as a new car, $30,000.  This is usually not even an option for an addict. Addiction often makes it difficult to keep a job or save any money at all. Therefore this burden often falls on the family and unfortunately most families do not have the ability to foot the bill even if they would like to.  This leaves families maxing out credit cards, emptying savings accounts, or taking out second mortgages on their homes just to help a family member desperately in need.

Another available option for an addict without insurance is a state run in-patient treatment center. These facilities are nearly always at capacity and have a waitlist weeks long. The reality is that sometimes having to wait for weeks could spell death for an addict. If you are luckily enough to find a bed in one of these facilities, there is the question of level of care. Many times state addiction rehabilitation centers provide a lower level of individual care.

The most viable option for an addict is an out-patient substance abuse treatment program. Studies have shown that in-patient treatment is often more effective than out-patient. There is much less structure in these types of facilities than in a 28 day in-patient treatment center. Often times the structure of a controlled environment is what an addict needs to succeed in getting and staying sober. The staff at No Insurance Drug Rehab doesn’t feel that someone should have to settle for lower quality treatment.

Addiction treatment has become big business. Last year the industry as a whole did an estimated $35 billion in revenue. Some of this money is set aside for scholarships. While there are scholarship programs at some treatment centers, they are few and far between.  Qualifying patients are usually given partial scholarships to relieve some of the financial burden of drug and alcohol treatment without insurance.

The final option for someone seeking drug rehab without insurance is a faith based treatment facility. These facilities are often free or low in cost. If you are comfortable with faith based treatment this could be a viable option for you. If you are not affiliated with a faith and have trouble with the idea this is probably not the best option.

All of these factors add up to make an already overwhelming process, even more overwhelming for someone seeking drug and alcohol treatment without insurance. This process should be much easier and far more accessible for everyone in need.  The scary reality is that 121 people die from substance abuse every day in the US. There just currently aren’t enough resources to help addicts without insurance. We would like to fill that gap and help people with substance abuse problems receive the help they need.

If you are struggling with a drug or alcohol dependency and do not have insurance we can help. We do not think you should have to settle for a lesser level of care, or accept whatever option is available to you.  No Insurance Drug Rehab would like to find you the exact help you need.
